Haryana Government Suspends Doctor for Reporting Late for Work

Chandigarh: A doctor of a government hospital at Panipat was suspended on Wednesday by the Haryana government for allegedly "reaching late" at work due to which a patient died in the hospital.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij suspended Dr Shalini Mittal posted at General Hospital, Panipat with immediate effect for reaching "11 minutes late" in the hospital which resulted in the death of a patient, said an official release in Chandigarh.

As per the inquiry report submitted by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Panipat, a patient identified as Ajit Singh, a resident of Aasan Kalan, Panipat was brought in the emergency wing of the hospital while Dr Mittal was found absent from duty as per duty roaster.

As per the report, Dr Mittal did not reach hospital in time and as a result of which patient could not get required treatment, resulting in his death, said the release.

However, Dr Mittal claimed herself to be innocent.
