Youth killed in hit-and-run case

VADODARA: A 20-year-old youth was killed and another person injured in a hit-and-run accident on Tuesday morning near Kunal Chokdi in Laxmipura area. The deceased was identified as Govind Teli, a resident of Gotri. According to the complaint filed by the youth's father, Bhairulal Teli, at Laxmipura police station, Govind was riding pillion on a motorbike that was being ridden by Govind's elder brother Ganesh.The duo was knocked down by a car. The collision by the speeding car caused severe head injuries that led to the death of the youth.
Govind had a 'pav bhaji' stall at Gotri. Govind was rushed to SSG Hospital but he died within an hour due to multiple trauma and blood loss. Ganesh, who was riding the bike, suffered abrasions and was discharged after primary treatment.
"On Tuesday morning, a car driven by an unidentified person knocked down the motorcycle. We are carrying out further investigation to trace the car and its driver," said Laxmipura police inspector M D Puwar.
This is the fourth fatal accident in the last 10 days and the second hit and run case in as many days. A 28-year-old man was killed in a road accident on Thursday night at Fatehgunj. On November 25, a man was killed in an accident near Icon Apartment on New VIP Road after he rammed his vehicle into a divider.
