Gallerist Sean Kelly — who’s repped performance artist Marina Abramovic since 1991 — says he actually avoided her years ago.
The art dealer was such a big fan of her work, he felt representing her would potentially “take over” his life.
But when another artist, Julião Sarmento, took Kelly to lunch one day, “There was a woman sitting there with long dark hair . . . she turned around and . . . I knew I was screwed,” he tells Avenue magazine. “I was gonna work with this woman for the rest of my life.”
