KARACHI:

Sixty-year-old Subhan Ali had a heart attack when he learnt about his son’s murder on Monday. Two people were killed in separate targeted attacks while a young man was found dead in Gulshan-e-Maymar on Tuesday.

The man’s 35-year-old son, Sohail alias Mastana, was killed when unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle shot and killed him. The deceased used to run a paan shop in sector 15, Orangi Town, within the limits of the Pakistan Bazaar police. The incident took place when Sohail was sitting at his pan shop late Monday night. Two passers-by were also wounded in the incident.

“His father had a heart attack soon after he learned about his son’s murder,” said SHO Murtaza Majeed. “He was taken to a hospital where he breathed his last.” Sohail was the sole breadwinner of his family and left behind four sons. Police officials said that the deceased had been associated with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

“He had left PPP about 10 to 15 years ago and it has yet to be ascertained if he was associated with any party currently,” said Majeed. The funeral prayers of both Sohail and his father were offered near their residence in Orangi. Later, they were laid to rest at sector 14-C graveyard in Orangi on Tuesday evening.

SHO Majeed said that the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained while the police was also looking for complainants to register a case.

Similarly, 55-year-old Ibrahim, son of Muhammad Ismail, was shot dead and Imran, 36, son of Abdul Qayyum, was injured in firing near Bagh-e-Korangi, reported the Sharafi Goth police. Police officials said that unidentified motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at a Hiace van carrying members of the Tablighi Jamaat. These members were returning to their homes after attending a religious meeting at Madni Masjid near Ayesha Manzil, Federal B Area, late Monday night.

Meanwhile, the body of a young man was found lying in the bushes in Surjani, within the limits of the Gulshan-e-Maymar police.
