Bhairavi Raichura: Not content, TRPs decide the fate of TV shows
As Kaajalbhai in Hum Paanch, this gujju girl picked her claim to fame. Since then Bhairavi Raichura was constantly romancing the camera with strong characters in shows like Astitva-Ek Prem Kahaani, Balika Vadhu, Sasural Genda Phool and many more. And now, for last two years, this talented actress has taken a next level for herself by turning a producer. This petite actress was in Ahmedabad to promote her third show Satrangee Sasural.
Ask her about the show and Bhairavi excitedly shares, “This show owes its concept from a Marathi show. Initially Purnendu (Shekhar) ji was hesitant to take up a regional show and re-work on it, so we decided to give it a completely pan-Indian look and feel. It’s a cosmopolitan treatment completely now. And instead of six mother in laws in Marathi show, we have seven mom-in-laws. But the best part is — this is not going to be a typical saas-bahu show!”

Bhairavi’s shows have always been different from the run of the mill fare and have been set in urban backdrops. But she feels, “Although there’s a segment that loves the shows we (my partner and I) are producing, (be it Chhal or Laut Aao Trisha) the numbers don’t reflect the success of our shows or the fact that they’ve been appreciated. In showbiz only TRPs decide the fate of TV shows and not the content. We look forward to producing progressive shows and want people to learn from them.”
On a positive note, Bhairavi admits that she’s “learning a lot from the mistakes on production front — and trying to improve,” but says she misses “acting. Though I’m doing a cameo in Laut Aao Trisha, I really miss doing some interesting roles. But, production tasks keep me so occupied that I can’t take up a full-time acting project.”
Bhairavi always enjoys coming to the city. “I have many relatives in Ahmedabad and I love Law Garden for the amazing shopping options it offers. I love coming to Ahmedabad but my busy schedule at work doesn’t permit much liberties. After work she is busy with “my nephew Vivaan, all of two years old and such a stress-buster after a hectic day. I prefer keeping a low profile — so I hang out only with my family and close friends. I also enjoy reading and long drives but currently I have no time for them.” On a parting note, we ask Bhairavi if marriage on cards for her, to which she says with a smile, “You will anyway get to know if there’s any such development in my life!”
