NANNING -- A man has been sentenced to death in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, a local court said on Friday.

The Liuzhou Intermediate People's Court found He Jian, the defendant, guilty of three counts of murder and sentenced him to death.

The trial only lasted for half day.

The court upheld the prosecution's evidence that He stabbed two senior citizens to death in January 2013.

The court also believed he robbed and killed his wife's colleague in March 2014. According to the court, He bought his wife a ring with the money robbed from the victim.

The court said He's crimes were extremely cruel and his intentions were extremely evil. The court refused to mitigate He's punishment.

He said at court that he would not seek to appeal the verdict.
