MARGAO: A section of the villagers of
Manora,
Raia, served an ultimatum of 15 days to the authorities to block the entrance to a service road along the Selaulim
water pipeline, alleging that it is being misused by some for anti-social activities.
The gate on the road along the pipeline was dismantled when laying the second pipeline.
The locals alleged that they had written to
PWD and other authorities, including chief minister, with the request to erect the gate, as there is possibility of criminal activities.
Liquor bottles, condoms and cigarette packets are found dumped on the deserted road, they stated.
Protesting against the inaction by the authorities, the villagers erected a barricade of rubble stone, concrete poles and sticks on Sunday at the site, and threatened to hold an agitation if the gate is not erected.
