Lucknow: An inspector deputed in Sonbhadra police line, immolated himself on Sunday morning at his residence in sector-C of Indiranagar. According to SHO Ghazipur Ajeet Singh Chauhan, “Inspector Ramsubhag (52) set himself on fire at around six in the morning and was taken to civil hospital by a family member. The officer was on medical leave for last three months and had been taking sleeping pills for past several weeks.
We have not been able to know his exact motive for taking the extreme step.” Ramsubhag’s son Hariom said, “My father was under mental pressure for the last few months. We have admitted him to the burns ward of Civil Hospital, as he had suffered third degree burns.”
Lucknow: An electrical engineer hailing from Kanpur allegedly committed suicide in Naka hotel on Sunday morning. According to Vijay Prakash Singh, SHO Naka, “Pratyush Diwedi (28), who checked in on November 25, was found hanging in room number G-2 on Sunday morning. Door of his room was clocked from inside.” Singh said, “Hotel owner Bechalal alias Guddu reported the matter to police around 8am. The youth had come from Kanpur and was suppose to leave for Mumbai for official work. No suicide note was found from the room.”
Turtles seized: Four women in their mid-30s were arrested by GRP allegedly for carrying 165 turtles in jute and polythene bags on Sunday morning. According to GRP station officer Shiv Prakash Gautam, “At 10:30am, Geeta, Munni, Ushma and Muniya were arrested with bags full of turtles. The women were heading for Balamau and Sandila. The bags were hidden near the washbasin were recovered from the arrested women during a routine check by GRP personnel.” All four were coming from Amethi district and were caught red-handed in coach number S9 of Doon Express (3010),” he added. All the women were booked under Animal Protection Act.
