IIM Ahmedabad concludes summer placements; BCG top recruiter with maximum offers

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad concluded its Summer Internship Recruitment for the Postgraduate Program (PGP) students for 2014-16, with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) emerging as the top recruiter, having extended 16 offers.

The other company which stands second to Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and has made 10 Job offers were Bharti Airtel, Accenture Strategy and McKinsey & Co.

To make you aware, the placement was completed in three clusters although there was a plan to conduct four. Almost firms participated in the placements. It should be noted that IIM Ahmedabad follows a cohort-cluster system for placements, wherein the company offering jobs in similar profiles are placed in a single group/cohort.

Every year multiple cohorts visit the campus in a form of specific "cluster". Cluster 1 was held on November 11, 2014; with three cohorts, international investment banks, global strategy consulting and investment management firms. Cluster 2 was held on November 14, 2014 where six cohorts visited the campus, namely, General Management, Consumer Services, Consumer Goods, Global Technology, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) as well as Niche Consulting. Cluster 3 was held on, November 17, 2014 where there were five cohorts Core namely Manufacturing, Consumer Goods & Services, Management Consulting, Technology & Internet and Pharmaceutical.

Around 12 out of 399 student droped out of the placement and joined up with the Center for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) to launch their start-up ventures.

Talking of the Investment banks who participated in the placements, the top recruiter was Goldman Sachs, offering nine students for positions in financial markets, financial strategy and investment banking.

HUL, made 9 offers in roles including Finance, Sales & Marketing, etc. in FMCG, sector. In General Management, Bharti Airtel extended the highest number of 11 offers.

For Technology sector, Amazon stands as the prime recruiter who made 9 offers for positions in Operations, Marketing, Product Marketing, Product Management, etc.

Students were given an opportunity to make a dream application to a company of their first choice for a consequent cluster, even if they carry an offer in hand, flexibility is given to them to opt for careers in a sector of their choice.
