Dublin Airport has welcomed Flybe's decision to launch a new Dublin to Bournemouth service from next May.

Dublin Airport Managing Director, Vincent Harrison said he was delighted to see a resumption of flights between Dublin Airport and Bournemouth.

Mr Harrison said: 'This new service offers more choice for passengers flying between Ireland and Britain and also provides easy connections to Dublin Airport's expanding long-haul network.'

He added: 'Dublin Airport is becoming a significant European hub for transatlantic traffic, and UK-based passengers on Flybe's new service can experience the excellent transfer product at Dublin,'

Located in Dorset on the south coast, Bournemouth has been described as 'Mediterranean lounging place on the English Channel' with miles of sandy beaches including the Jurassic Coastline World Heritage Site.

Flybe will commence the four times per week service from May 18, 2015.

New services and routes are being added to the Dublin Airport schedule with increasing regularity and this latest announcement comes hot on the heels of news that business at the airport is seeing a steady rise.

Almost 2 million passengers used Dublin Airport in October, which was a 10% increase on the same month last year. Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe increased by 7% during the month, as almost 1 million passengers travelled to European destinations in October.

Almost 18.6 million passengers have used Dublin Airport in the first 10 months of this year, which is a 7% increase on the same period in 2013.
