CHANDEL, November 28: The 4th round of Accredited Social Health Activist, ASHA training programme of 6th and 7th module was held concluded today at the Chakpikarong Government High School under Chandel District.

During the training programme, there was interaction between ASHA workers and Chief Medical Officer of the district Dr N Birchandra and other ASHA facilitators. The programmed was organised under the aegis of the National Rural Health Mission.

Dr Birchandra during the interaction pointed out that ASHA workers have an important role to play, especially in delivery cases. They act as facilitators to pregnant women more particularly in institutional delivery system, he said.

He continued that the purpose of the programme was mainly to educate the ASHA workers so that they can gain knowledge regarding mother and child care before and post child birth especially in the rural areas.

The ASHA workers must ensure that the safety of both mother and child is not compromised, he added.

It may be recalled that as part of the training programme, successful deliveries were conducted on November 24 and 26 at Shajik Tampak Primary Health Center under the NHRM Chandel. The CMO congratulated those nurse and staff who were part of the delivery.
