Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta was coming off the pitch following a 2-0 win over Bastian, when an opponent from the other team headbutted him, breaking his nose.

The offending player, Brazilian-born Brandao, was sentenced on Thursday to one month in jail for the attack. Brandao had been subbed off earlier in the game, and according to Motta, told the PSG midfielder that he would be waiting for him in the team tunnel.

He was.

After headbutting Motta, CCTV footage shows that Brandao ran away into his team’s dressing room.

According to a BBC report, Brandao’s attorney expects his client to serve the punishment through community service and not in jail.

Brandao had already been suspended six-months by Ligue 1 for his actions. You can watch the headbutt and the scamper away in the video below.
