The Patna police on Friday busted a racket involved in cheating people in the name of providing jobs in foreign countries and seized seven passports.

Patna: The Patna police on Friday busted a racket involved in cheating people in the name of providing jobs in foreign countries and seized seven passports.

Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana said the police had received a tip off that one Aman Prateek of Rupaspur police station area was running an organisation promising jobs abroad against hefty cash.

There was also information that Prateek had taken his room partner hostage for a ransom of Rs 50,000 by tying him up, a release from SSP office said.

Acting on the tip off, the SSP constituted a team under city Superintendent of Police Shivdeep Lande and raided an apartment.

The team found the hostage identified as Neeraj Kumar locked in a room. Seven passports were also found from another room, the release said.

Besides seven passports, one laptop, three mobile handsets and fake documents regarding jobs were recovered from the flat, it said.

The SSP later told a news agency that the police would also probe the case in the light of youths joining terror outfits after leaving the country.
