The wedding season is on in full swing and for those of you who are tying the knot, the Jaguar Trousseau Week, 2014 is a must visit. The wedding expo, on at UB City until Sunday, is a one-stop shop for engaged couples and their families, offering everything from designer clothes for the big day to venue and honeymoon options. The fifth edition of the annual trousseau week celebrates Indian diversity, bringing the focus back on handlooms and pays tribute to the artisans who have contributed to this traditional industry.
Spread across the ground and first floor of the mall, the expo is not confined to a single space. Instead separate lounges, tucked away in different sections of the mall, showcase the various participants. Among the couture lounges, designers Neeta Lulla and Satya Paul have a bridal collection on display as well as representatives from the design house are a hand to receive custom orders.
Pragati Mathur, one of Bangalore’s well-known textile designers and weaving artists, also has an exclusive lounge at the expo. A tradition weaver, part of Pragati’s lounge, is present to weave a special sari dedicated to the girl child. The sari features long strips of paper thread, made out of newspaper stories on the girl child that have been weaved into the sari’s pallu.
Other participants at the expo include Aloft Hotels, offering venue solutions for pre-wedding functions; Emirates for customised honeymoon packages; 3D Design Décor by Dinaz Noria, luxury wedding planners; Jaguar Land Rover; Angsana Oasis Spa & Resorts and Mirrors & Within.
Two photographers, Amos Moses and Manikanth Ramanath, are also present at the expo. While Manikanth specialises in the visual storytelling of lifestyle wedding, Amos says, “I look at creating memorable pieces of art by shooting on-location portraits of the couple.”
For the weekend, Trousseau Week has a number of events lined up, including a home theatre experience zone by Audisee. The acoustically treated zone will feature state-of-art technology from Harman, JBL and Synthesis 7.2 System. A Jazz festival, a session on eating right and an event by Avirate are the other happenings at The Trousseau Week on Saturday.
