Cameron's excitement over Avatar

James Cameron is directing the Avatar sequels

James Cameron has revealed that fans will be thrilled with the Avatar sequels.

The Canadian filmmaker, who has been working on the next three instalments of the sci-fi series, is remaining tight-lipped about the storylines.

But he hinted to Empire: "I can tell you one thing about them. They're gonna be b****in'. You will s*** yourself with your mouth wide open."

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver are to return for the follow-ups to the 2009 Oscar-winning film, which was created, directed, written and co-produced by James.

The three sequels will be shot back to back, with filming expected to start in December, ahead of their releases in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively.

The scripts for the three films have been split between a writing team including Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.

"I think we met for seven months and we whiteboarded out every scene in every film together, and I didn't assign each writer which film they were going to work on until the last day," James said.

"I knew if I assigned them their scripts ahead of time, they'd tune out every time we were talking about the other movie."
