The Coolidge Corner Theatre had two special guests at its sneak preview screening of “The Imitation Game” on Tuesday night. After showing the film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as mathematician and codebreaker Alan Turing, the moviehouse hosted an onstage talk with Seth Lloyd , an MIT professor of mechanical engineering, who happens to be the designer of the first feasible quantum computer, and Silvio Micali , Ford professor of engineering at MIT, who won a 2012 Turing Award for his work in the field of cryptography. The Coolidge is actually connected to “The Imitation Game” through the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Sloan provides grants to help the Coolidge to bring its “Science on Screen” series to movie theaters across the country. The foundation, which gives grants to films that feature themes of science and technology, also helped finance “The Imitation Game.”
