World-class talent on show at Voices in the Forest concert in Canberra's National Arboretum
/World-renowned Latvian soprano Inessa Galante, Australian baritone Peter Coleman-Wright and New Zealand tenor Simon O'Neill will perform at the Voices in the Forest concert on Sunday.
The concert is set to attract big crowds to the amphitheatre at the National Arboretum in Canberra for the fourth annual concert.
Locally born talent Tim Dal Cortivo and mezzo-soprano Christina Wilson will perform together to showcase Canberra's own talent.
Bob Winnel is a major supporter of the annual event and is encouraging Canberrans to go along.
"The commitment of these people to their art form and to their music is a lifelong commitment and they are at the very top of their talent tree on an international scale," he said.
Canberra's leading instrumentalists will form the Voices in the Forest orchestra, directed by Roland Peelman.
"We've had world-class talent at each of the concerts and it's one of the best events in Australia, so I would urge people to come along and get into a sphere of their mind that they don't get into often," Mr Winnel said.
The show must go on
If rain falls over the Arboretum on Sunday, organisers will have more than 3,000 ponchos available.
"The show will go on regardless," Mr Winnel said.
The event attracted 4,500 patrons in 2013 and organisers are hoping crowds will again flock to the Arboretum in their thousands.
Patrons are encouraged to take public transport to the event, with limited parking available onsite.
"Those who take their car have to have a ticket prior to the day if they expect to drive in," Mr Winnel said.
A free bus service will be in operation, with buses departing from Edinburgh Avenue, Acton or Platform 10, Northbourne Avenue at the City bus station.
The free bus service will start at 2:00pm and the last bus to the concert will depart at 4:15pm.
After the concert buses will leave the Arboretum from 8:30pm.
