Akhilesh slams media

November 28, 2014 02:32 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:55 pm IST - LUCKNOW:

With the CBI declaring that the death of two cousins in a Badaun village earlier this year were suicides and not a case of rape and murder as was suspected, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav lambasted the media for launching a campaign to ‘malign his government.’

Mr. Yadav charged the bosses in media houses sitting in Delhi with carrying out a “well-designed campaign” against the Samajwadi Party government. He accused the media of doing “negative reporting” in the Badaun case and portraying the government and the police as culprits.

“Today the Badaun case has become clear to you. It will be clearer in a few days. You tell me how much you have defamed the government. Check the Internet and old newspapers, you might have deleted the recordings, but our departments have records about what all you said about the government after the Badaun incident. You should introspect,” Mr. Yadav told journalists.

Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said she would order a fresh probe if voted to power in the next Assembly polls.
