The Ottawa Senators, owner Eugene Melnyk and Daniel Alfredsson all confirmed the former Sens’ captain will be in Ottawa Dec. 4 to take part in a pre-game ceremony prior to puck drop against the New York Islanders.
Afredsson, who spent 17 seasons in Ottawa, will also make an announcement, likely his retirement, on the morning of Dec. 4.

Alfredsson, 41, scored 444 goals and 1,157 points in 1,246 games with the Senators and Red Wings.
The native of Gothenburg, Sweden was Ottawa’s sixth-round pick (133rd overall) in 1994.
