Kinoteka Polish Film Festival 2014
2-12 December
Organized by the Polish Institute, New Delhi, the second edition of the festival will screen films by well-known directors like Andrzej Jakimowski and Krzysztof Kieslowski. It will close with a screening of Pawel Pawlikowski’s Ida, which has been nominated for the 2015 Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

The Other Woman

Presented by the Khoj International Artists’ Association and entrepreneur Priya Paul, The Other Woman is a celebration of the “anti-heroines" of Bombay cinema. Five films—four from Pakistan (Zibahkhana, Zinda Laash, Aurat Raaj and South Asian Cinema—A Documentary) and one from India (Miss Lovely)—are being screened. An exhibition of film memorabilia is also being held.

This 52-minute French documentary follows the life of Phun-Guth Sunthary, who is trying to find out the truth about her father’s death at S21, a Khmer Rouge detention and torture centre in Cambodia. Sunthary’s father, Phung Ton, was arrested in 1976 and was one of the 16,000 people reported to have been tortured and executed at S21 between 1975-79. It will be screened with English subtitles.

Theatre group Sayak will celebrate its journey of 41 years with a festival featuring four productions—Dui Hujurer Gappo, Shyama Kali, Damini Hey and Drishtikanya. Drishtikanya is about a blind woman who regains her eyesight. Dui Hujurer Gappo is adapted from a story by Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin. Shyama Kali is a production for children. Damini Hey is a new production based on a story by Amar Mitra.
