The Commission reviewed and approved the changes to the Rules for the use of the natural gas transmission system and the Transmission system balancing rules of AB Amber Grid

On 27 November 2014 the National Control Commission for Prices and Energy reviewed and approved the new version of the Rules for the Use of the natural gas transmission system of AB Amber Grid and the new version of the Rules for the balancing of the natural gas transmission system of AB Amber Grid, to be effective from 1 January 2015.

The Rules are available on the website of AB Amber Grid www.ambergrid.lt.

1 January 2015 will mark the start of using the model of system capacity allocation of entry and exit points and pricing of the transmission system according to which the transmission service prices are established, and transmission capacities are allocated separately in the entry and exit points of the gas transmission system. The new capacity allocation model will facilitate conditions for new gas market participants and for cross-border gas flows.

The Rules have put in place a possibility for the system users to order capacity using the electronic transmission service administration system, and trading the available capacity on the secondary market of gas transmission capacities.

In view of the legislation, until 2015, natural gas was accounted in units of volume (m3). From 1 January 2015, volume of gas transmitted and services provided will be accounted in units of energy (in megawatt-hours - MWh) based on top calorific value of natural gas. The website of AB Amber Grid will offer a gas conversion calculator for conversion of gas volume to gas energy units.

From 1 January 2015, Euro will be Lithuania's official currency. Accordingly, prices applied in the entry and exit points of transmission system for transmission services will be in Euro: for booked capacities in Euro per MWh per day per booking period (e.g., annual, quarterly), and in Euro per MWh for transported gas volume.
