"Technically, I became a star with my first film, Phool Aur Kaante (1991), and after that, I didn't have to look back. I am a star, and have always been," says Ajay Devgn.
With 25 years in the Hindi film industry, Ajay Devgn today is in a position to call himself a people's actor and a star.
He is not even worried about the Khans reigning over the industry.
In an interview to a leading daily, the Singham actor clarifies that the perception of him being over shadowed by the three Khans is created by the media. He says he is a star since his first film Phool Aur Kaante two decades ago.
"Technically, I became a star with my first film, Phool Aur Kaante (1991), and after that, I didn't have to look back. I am a star, and have always been."
Ajay may know that he no less a star than the Khans but the action star says he can't market himself as he is not a person who 'creates perceptions'.
"I don't want to market myself. I am not someone who creates perceptions; I let people judge me for my work. People know about my successful films and performances. I don't need to scream from the rooftops about my work."
Ajay's next release is Action Jackson opposite Sonakshi Sinha, Yami Gautam and Manasvi Mamgai. After succeeding in action, drama, romance and comedy, the actor will be trying his luck with dance in Prabhu Dheva directed Action Jackson.
