It’s been an awfully hard year for the vehicle that’s been bedroom poster material from 1992 onwards. Earlier this year, the Viper sold so poorly, its assembly plant had to be idled a heck of a long time. But then it came to Dodge: lower the price, then wait a little.
That plan worked wonders for the rattlesnake on wheels. Viper sales are up a whopping 26 percent year-to-date since $15,000 from the sticker price were shaved off in September. If it wasn’t for this aggressive discount strategy, then the model would’ve been discontinued in the detriment of the monstrous Hellcat siblings, both packing 707 HP.

But whereas the hellish Dodge Charger and Challenger are extremely exciting in their own special ways, they’re not scratching supercar territory like the Viper. The Charger is, at the end of the day, a four-door sedan, while the Challenger is an over-steroidized muscle car.

The Viper, on the other hand, was engineered from the ground up to take on supercars from Europe

For the 2015.5 model year, the Viper holds a starting price of $84,995 excluding the gas guzzler tax and destination. The sportier TA 2.0 Special Edition builds on the success of the former TA model and can be had starting from $101,995. Those extra $17k buy you a lot of vents in the bonnet and an Aero Package.

If you want the best 2015.5 Viper out there, look no further than the GTS. It’s costly at $107,995, but it packs a lot of extra kit over the base SRT and mid-range GT models. Slated to arrive in dealerships early next year, each 2015.5 Viper model can be undressed of its secrets by accessing the release below.
