Spain Q3 GDP Growth Unrevised

Spain's economy grew in the third quarter as estimated earlier, final figures from the statistical office INE showed Thursday.

Gross domestic product rose 0.5 percent sequentially, same as in the previous quarter. Year-on-year, the economy expanded 1.6 percent after growing 1.3 percent in the previous three months.

Both quarterly and annual growth figures for the third quarter were in line with the initial estimates released on October 30. The sequential growth for the second quarter was revised from 0.6 percent.

Contribution of domestic demand to annual GDP growth rose to 2.5 points from 2.2 points in the previous quarter. In contrast, the negative contribution from foreign demand held steady at 0.9 points.

Quarterly growth in employment eased to 0.5 percent in the third quarter. Year-on-year, employment rose 1.4 percent or by 221,000 persons.
