Comedy, the current flavour of Gujarati prime time

Gujarati GEC space is trying to woo the audience with comedy and satire
Comedy, the current flavour of Gujarati prime time
They say, comedy and Gujaratis are inseparable. While Gujarati theatre endeavoured to make it a point with satire on the stage, Gujarati TV shows too are leaving no stone unturned to woo the audience by exploring more of satire and comedy as the two sought after genres.
So, shows like Aa Family Comedy Chhe, Pati Thayo Pati Gayo, Meena Gheewala's 1760 Sasumaa are some of the examples that highlight the Gujarati audiences’ love for comedy.
Says actress Krishna Gokani, who made her Gujrati TV debut in 1760 Sasumaa, “This is the first time, I am doing a comedy show and I am excited because of the kind of breadth comedy offers an actor to grow.”
At the same time, Vimmy Bhatt, after a stellar role in Tari Aankhno Afini, is now seen making moves in the comedy show Aa Family Comedy Chhe. And the transition from a thriller to comedy , according to Vimmy is simply amazing.
While Vrajesh Hirjee too is trying to make the audience take notice of the ready wit in the satirical one liners that his teammates come up with during various acts of the show Hirji Ni Marji, it is interesting to note how comedy has become the flavour of the season on Gujarati television.
