GURGAON: New deputy commissioner T L Satyaprakash has decided to link every government-sponsored facility, including disbursement of the LPG cylinder subsidy, scholarships, pensions, allowances, free medicines from government hospitals, etc, with the Aadhaar card to ensure the entire district is covered under UID within the next six months.
People in Gurgaon who have not yet enrolled themselves for the UID have been given a six-month window to get themselves enrolled.

"The Union government has linked Aadhaar with domestic gas subsidy in some states. Gurgaon might be included in the next phase. It is high time everybody is enrolled under UID. After six months, all government benefits will be linked with UID, including the old age honour allowance, unemployment allowance, widow pension, physically-challenged pension, scholarships, free medicines from government hospitals, salaries of contractual employees, etc," he said.
He said under the district administration's fresh enrolment drive, wherever 50 or more persons are available for enrolment, they can place a request by calling the city magistrate's office at 0124-2320305, and a UID enrolment machine with kit would be sent. "I also appeal to resident welfare associations (RWAs) and other civil society bodies to extend their support and cooperation in this task by informing the district administration about pockets where there are people without UIDs," he said.
There are five permanent UID enrolment centres in Gurgaon, besides mobile ones. These are located at the mini secretariat, opposite Sohna's tehsil office, the BDPO office in Farrukh Nagar, the market committee office near Pataudi railway station and the Manesar tehsil office.
According to the district administration, about 73% of district Gurgaon's population is already enrolled for Aadhaar (UID). The pending population is expected to be covered by June 2015. Majority of the total estimated pendency of 4.15 lakh people are from urban areas.
