Free mobile application to help UK retailers Go Green launched

As part of the Scottish Government’s Resource Efficiency Scotland programme, Zero Waste Scotland has released a new free iOS and Android app; Green Retail, that will allow retailers across the UK to reduce costs by implementing resource efficiencies.

The app which was developed in collaboration with RES, e-learning specialists, Aurion Learning and environmental consultancies, Enscape and Mabbett, will improve usability, and provide help and advice for retailers on going green at the touch of a smart phone button.

The new app replaces the previously developed Green Retail app, is immediately available to the entire retail business community.

Commenting on the launch of the app, Product Development Manager at Aurion Learning, who was responsible for the app design, including video explainer and development support, Barry Kelly said:

“The Green Retail app demonstrates Aurion Learning’s commitment to mobile learning solutions and our expertise in developing innovative mobile applications that will ultimately help strengthen retailers businesses. We were really pleased to collaborate with the teams at RES, Enscape and Mabbett on this forward thinking app.”

As well as case studies on resource efficiencies in practice, the app also contains quick guides on areas including:

  • Energy Saving
  • Water Efficiency
  • Managing Waste
  • Legislation – including single use carrier bag (Scotland) regulations and waste (Scotland) regulations

Resource Efficient Scotland’s Stephen Boyle, Programme Area Manager – Business Sector,  said:
