The 15th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz held at Dr. Ambedkar Bhavan on Wednesday saw an enthusiastic participation by students from schools across the city, Tumakuru, and Hosur in Tamil Nadu. This year, students from classes 3 to 5 participated in the sub-junior category and those from classes 6 to 8 in the junior category.

In the sub-junior category, after the preliminary written round, six teams made it to the final round.

The team from National Public School (NPS), Indiranagar, held its nerve and gave the right answers to two questions in the final round to ace the category.

At the beginning of the final round, the NPS team comprising Siddhant Doshi and Vishnu Sampath Kumar was trailing Presidency School, R.T. Nagar, by five points. The NPS team garnered 20 points in the final round to push Akash Anand Desai and Sampreet Vasishta of Presidency School to the second position.

Siddhant and Vishnu, both class 5 students, said they were “overjoyed” and it was a “big win at a big event”. “It was a big learning experience. It taught us how not to lose focus when we were trailing. We were determined to win,” said Vishnu. Each of them received a bicycle, a trophy and a certificate.

Shruti Karthik and Pragun P. from Sishu Griha School stood third.

The second team from NPS, Indiranagar, finished fourth followed by Delhi Public School (Bengaluru East) and the Oxford Senior Secondary School (CBSE), J.P. Nagar.

It boosted our confidence and also helped us to keep our cool. We never looked back from then on.” They received a bicycle each, and trophies and certificates.
