Five more arrested in CIB graft case

Five more people were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly citing the royal family while detaining people and extorting money when soliciting payments in connection with the CIB corruption case.

The arrests came after the investigation into the lese majeste and bribery cases against 10 people, including high-ranking police officers, panned out, police said.

Three of the new five arrests are of the Akarapongpreecha family: Nattapol, Sitthisak and Narong. The others are Sutthisak Sutthijit and Chakarn Pakpoom.

They are charged with collaborating to force people to do or not to do anything out of fear for their lives and safety by using weapons, and to steal.

The offence was committed in the Phra Khanong area, police said.
