Al Thawadi : Qatar's Hosting 2022 World Cup "Catalyst to Accelerate Developing Transport Sector"

Doha, November 25 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Hassan Al Thawadi said that the State of Qatar has developed a comprehensive vision for sustainable growth in infrastructure and build a network of modern and efficient public transport, recognizing that its transformation into a global centre for hosting major events and take advantage of in legacy of which depends on the development of this important sector within Qatar Vision 2030. Al Thawadi was Speaking at the opening session of the UITP MEN Public Transport for Large Events and Taxi Conference, which is organized by the transport company (Mowsalat) in collaboration with the International Union of public transport at Qatar National Convention Centre today. He said Qatar's winning the honor to organize the 2022 World Cup was a catalyst to accelerate the development of the transport sector which where a timetable was set previously for building the rail network and highways network as we want to host the tournament, to be staged in close cities in order enable fans to watch two or three matches per day, and this of course can only be achieved through a network of modern and innovative public transport. ", he added The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy has been working with the Ministry of Tansport in collaboration with our partners in the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of public works, Ministry of municipality urban planning and other stakeholders, to develop a plan for public transport ensure a comfortable experience for visitors who will arrive to Qatar to attend the World Cup, Al Thawadi added.(QNA)
