DMK president M. Karunanidhi said on Tuesday that the “inclusive government” promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be in trouble if he did not prevent the Sangh Parivar from pursuing its own agenda.
In a statement here, he said the recent statements of the Sangh Parivar leaders and the government’s decision to replace German with Sanskrit in Kendriya Vidyalayas had shocked those who had faith in secularism.
Mr. Karunanidhi said the Hindu Rashtra, Sanskrit and Sarawathi — the agenda of the RSS and the Sangh Parivar — had manifested in RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that “India is a Hindu nation” and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal’s assertion that proud Hindus had come to rule Delhi after 800 years.
“The Prime Minister should put an end to the Sangh Parivar’s agenda before it becomes difficult for him to handle,” he said.
