The Nagpada police have filed an FIR against a teacher in Central Commerce Coaching Classes for allegedly grievously beating up a 14-year-old SSC student, Zeeshan Ansari, who fractured his left hand.

On Monday Ansari was attending classes at Central Commerce Classes. Grade X students have classes here from 5pm to 8pm. During the last lecture (Marathi), teacher Asif Rajan brought Marathi semester answer papers to the class. There was commotion in the classroom as students had crowded around Rajan. Ansari then pointed out to Rajan that he had not been given mark for one answer.

Ansari: said: "As soon as I went to speak to Asif Rajan sir, students pushed me from behind and I fell on him. He got angry, got hold of me by the neck and banged my head on the bench and thrashed me badly. My face and my left hand swelled up. I felt very bad as I had been thrashed in front of so many students for no fault of mine. I waited for 45 minutes to meet the owner of the institute to complaint to him. But they neither met me nor listened to my complaint."

Ansari writes with his left hand. Having fractured his left hand, he is not sure if he will be able to write his SSC exams which are in March.

Nagpada police have registered a case against Asif Rajan under sections IPC 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 325 (grievously causing hurt).

Farida Ansari, Zeeshan's mother, said: "He didn't want to attend classes on Monday, but I forced him to go. But I never imagined it would turn out like this. When we asked the teacher why Zeeshan had been beaten up so badly, the owner and staff of the institute were rude to us."

Abdul Karim Ansari, Zeeshan's father, said: "The police case was filed at 4pm, as we had to take Zeeshan to JJ hospital for medical check up. It was from X-ray that we knew he had fractured his left hand."

Sajid Sheikh, owner, Central Commerce Classes, said: "Asif has not thrashed the boy. He will never raise his hands against anyone. The student had fallen down, he might have fractured his hand then. There was commotion in the class after the students had crowded around the teacher, and Zeeshan was standing in front of everyone. The case against the teacher has been filed under mob pressure."

"Yes, we have registered a case against the teacher and are investigating. Arrest will be made after proper investigations," said senior police inspector Nandkumar Mhetar of Nagpada police station.
