CHANDIGARH: Students of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma (GGDSD) College will be able to manage stress-inducing situations through a proper channel with the opening of a Stress Management Centre on its campus on Tuesday.
The centre, which will provide professional help and guidance to students, has been named "Manasuday", which means "The awakening of the mind".
The centre has been conceptualized keeping in mind the increasing incidents of stress and depressions among students.
"It will help students deal with their everyday anxieties and stressors and help them manage their stress better," said principal Bhushan Kumar Sharma. "The purpose of the centre is to provide individual stress management assessments and prescriptions, followed by exploration and practice in various techniques, and finally skill development," Sharma added.
Manasuday will provide services like one-to-one counselling, self-instructional and motivational material for individuals facing inconsequential distress and last but not the least social stimulation techniques for training in a group setting.
The centre was inaugurated by psychologist Jatinder Mohan and Karamjeet Singh from Panjab University. It is the region's first and one-of-a-kind initiative taken by a college to help its students.
