Objectionable expression: Court notice to HC lawyer
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday issued a notice to lawyer N K Banka, asking him as to why contempt of court proceedings against him should not be initiated for an unpleasant incident that took place on November 18 before a single bench.
Division bench headed by Justice S S Saron has issued the notice after the matter about Banka's behaviour was placed before it.

According to the reports, during the hearing of a case in which Banka, an HC lawyer, was the counsel, a single bench had dismissed his plea. Banka, who is also a former vice-president of the High Court Bar Association, had objected to the petition being dismissed as he wanted to argue. But when the single judge dismissed the petition, Banka allegedly made an objectionable expression in the courtroom. Thereafter, the single judge had referred the matter for initiating contempt of court proceedings against him.
The case would now come up for hearing on Wednesday.
