A man who went missing on his kayak was found dead on City Island about 50 feet away from the watercraft, police said.
John Scully, 64, of the Bronx launched the kayak from his home on Alden Park around 1:30 p.m. Monday and headed north into Eastchester Bay.
The 5-foot-11, 220-pound man was wearing blue swim trunks as he paddled away in his yellow kayak. Scully didn’t return after nightfall and was reported missing.
A neighbor spotted his body on the shoreline near City Island Avenue, not far from the Morris Yacht Beach Club and the Lobster Box, officials said.
He was face-down in the trunks and a blue sweater. His 10-foot kayak had washed up, upside-down, about 50 feet away.
