I’m not quitting films, I just gave one film a miss

Actress Meera Nanda, who was last seen in the critically acclaimed film, Apothecary, opposite Jayasurya, is quite miffed about the reports that suggest that she has quit acting for a full-time career as an RJ.
Meera, who is currently in Dubai, says there is no truth whatsoever in the reports. “I am currently working as an RJ with a radio station in Dubai. However, that doesn’t mean that I have quit acting.I just gave one film a skip. I took up the job because I was granted permission to take leave whenever there is a film assignment. Recently, I even flew down to Chennai to complete the shoot of the Tamil film Sandamarutham. So there is no question of me quitting acting anytime soon."
Meera, who will be seen next in the Malayalam film Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu opposite Asif Ali says, she took up the film as she wanted to do an entertainer after featuring in a serious film like Apothecary. “Apothecary was an intense film and I was looking for a change. It was then that I got the offer for Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu, which is an out and out entertainer. I play a typical Muslim girl in it. The shoot, which lasted for more than a month at Varikassery Mana at Ottapalam, was also fun. It was during the shoot that I got the offer from the radio station. Since it was something that I have never done so far, I took up the challenge,” says Meera.
It has been a month and half since Meera took up the new role in real life — as an RJ — and she says she is enjoying it thoroughly. “I am living in Dubai all alone doing a full-time job. It is indeed a new experience for me. But movies remain a passion. Earlier, I had said that I have become choosy. I won’t be taking all the project coming my way. That’s all. If something interesting comes up, I will definitely take it up. And my job won’t be a hindrance for my acting career,” she signs off.
