CHANDIGARH: A month after coming to power, the BJP government on Tuesday reversed a key decision of the previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress regime, rolling back the retirement age of government staff from 60 years to 58 years.
But the upper age limit for recruitment stays at 42 years. The cut-off date for implementation of the retirement age decision would be November 30.

To woo the more than 3.5 lakh employees, Hooda government had increased the retirement age by two years ahead of the state assembly polls.
The government has also hiked diesel prices by increasing VAT (value added tax). With this, the retail sale price of diesel would go up to 53.19 per litre from Rs 52.10 per litre.
The government claims that even now the diesel would cost less than the neighbouring states of Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The state would generate additional revenue of Rs 737 crore annually with this revision.
On November 5, the new government had announced that it would review 115 decisions taken by the previous Congress government after May 16.
Aiming to remove the appointees of Hooda government, the BJP government has disbanded the Haryana teachers’ selection commission and removed the chairman and members of the Haryana staff selection commission
The cabinet also decided to close down toll points at six locations as the Union ministry of road transport and highways has declared these as national highways.
These are toll plazas on Gurgaon-Sohna road near Badshahpur, on Bahadurgarh-Jhajjar-Dadri-Loharu-Pilani road near Rajasthan border, on Sardulgarh-Sirsa road near Punjab border, on UP border-Sonepat-Gohana Road near UP border, on Sohana –Nuh-Ferozpur Zhirkha-Alwar Road near Rajasthan border and on Narnaul-Singhana road near Rajasthan border.
