Rudrampur area known as the centre of coal handling activities near the coal mining hub of Kothagudem is fast emerging as a famous tourist destination owing to its prized possession – Pragati Vanam.

Pragati Vanam, the sprawling garden encompassing a wide variety of flora, musical fountain and other striking features, near the CER Club at Rudrampur is attracting visitors from not only Kothagudem, but far-off places elsewhere in the coal belt.

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has developed the garden abutting a natural pond as part of its initiatives to promote greenery.

The spectacular garden was a popular tourist site even before its formal inauguration.

Thanks to the keen interest evinced by the SCCL CGM (Kothagudem area), M. Mallesham, the garden has emerged as a green lung of Rudrampur coal belt region.

The artistic sculpture of a coal miner at the entrance of the garden highlights the glorious heritage of the SCCL. A walking track and other amenities are also coming up at the garden. Some important events like Vijayadasami celebrations were conducted on the picturesque premises in the last couple of months.
