Sporting legend Milkha Singh will be the brand ambassador for the annual edition of the Reliance Jio-Hyderabad 10K Run to be held here on November 30.
“We are glad that the great Indian athlete has consented to be the brand ambassador, and this by itself should be a hug boost to our efforts to make the 12 edition of the run a major success,” chairperson of 10K Foundation Uma Chigurupati told reporters here on Thursday.
The novelty this time around is that select school kids will don the role of ambassadors in a particular segment of the charity programmes.
“As always, this Run is being organised with a cause, with the United Way of Hyderabad leading from the front to ensure that every rupee saved will be duly spent on charity homes that take care of the education, health and employment of streetchildren,” Ms. Uma explained.
Founder member of the Hyderabad 10K Foundation and film producer, Daggubati Suresh said the foundation was grateful to the Telangana government for their support.
“We are honoured when this 10 K Run was listed as part of the ‘Happening Hyderabad’ events of the State Government to promote the brand image of the newly-formed State,” he said. “We hope to raise Rs.70 lakh for our charity programmes in this edition,” he pointed out.
Film star Shriya Saran and former All England Open Badminton champion Pullela Gopichand hoped the event would be a major success once again with Hyderabadis responding in style as they have done in the past.
Reliance Jio Infocomm CEO K.S. Venugopal said the company, the main event sponsor, intended to have a long partnership with the organisers.
The event features the 10K Run for serious participants and 7K run, also dubbed as ‘Maza Run’, which is open to all amateurs and those who want to help the cause of charity.
