Robbers steal Rs 3.60 lakh worth gold ornaments from sub-inspector’s house

The sub-inspector A L Bhunatar is posted in Borsad taluka police station and his family live in a two storied house.

A sub-inspector’s house was robbed in Shaherkotda area in Ahmedabad on Tuesday when his family were fast asleep. The robbers have reportedly stolen  gold ornaments belonging to the SI’s daughter worth about Rs. 3.60 lakhs.

The Shaherkotda police said that the family members were sleeping in the bedrooms on the first floor and the robbers robbed the ground floor.

The police added that only when they woke up in the morning, they found out that the house was searched and it was robbed. Bhunatar lodged a complaint later with the Shaherkotda police station.

Investigating Officer, Inspector DD Gohil said, “The robbers entered from the window and robbed the gold ornaments lying locked in a cupboard downstairs. The family estimated that the jewellery was worth Rs. 3.60 lakhs. The family so far doesn’t have suspicion on anyone”.

The incident has left the family in shock. They told the police that in the last few years since they are living in the house, they never experienced any incident that could be a threat to them or their property. They told police that the audacity to rob a policeman’s house has shocked the residents of the area too.

The police have registered a case of robbery under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and begun further probe.
