What gets Arindam Dey excited is variety. The director, who wants to make films as different as films can be, is set for his next a movie based on the life of a heroine. After his romcom, Kokhon Tomar Ashbe Telephone, the director has roped in none other than Rituparna Sengupta for his next, Abhinetri.
The film revolves around an actress, who suddenly goes missing. When found, she comes back as a new person, having lost her memory.
The story about her life as an actress is shown in flashback. Every actress has a story to tell and my idea is to explore every minute detail of her life. Sunetra is a successful actress, who returns in an unrecognizable state. I am currently working on the script with Anindya Bose," says Arindam. The director, who had long been planning to work with Rituparna, is all praise for the actress. Ritu is not just a powerful actress, she is also a good dancer. She is a fighter and that makes her indispensable for the role," adds Arindam.
Ask if the film is similar to MadhurBhandarkar'sHeroine or BappadityaBandopadhyay'sNayikaSangbad and Arindam says, The story is certainly based on the life of an actress, but I am dealing with it differently. Both NayikaSangbad and Heroine are based on the struggle of an actress to achieve stardom, but Abhinetri is all about how a successful actress deals with the pressure of being a star. The story will unfurl the reasons why she goes missing, how she loses her memory and whether it was intentional. People might also find resemblance to some of the known characters in the film industry." Rituparna, on her part, is equally excited about the project. After PatiParameshwar and Parapaar, the actress is gearing up for her new role. The story is quite intriguing and has several layers to it. The film showcases the changes in the life of an actress. Arindam and I are childhood friends and when he told me the story, I was really interested. I am an actress and playing the same on celluloid would be fascinating," she says. The director has also approached KaushikGanguly and DebdutGhosh for two other pivotal roles.
Kaushikda is a brilliant actor and I loved him in Chotushkone and Khaad. He was part of my film ChayaManush and I had been looking for an opportunity to work with him again," adds Arindam, who is also planning a sequel to GoendaGogol.
Abhinetri is likely to go on the floors in January.
