Admn takes back extra land from Abhay Prashal
INDORE: Acting tough, the district administration on Monday took back around 26,572 square feet (0.61 acre) of land from Abhay Prashal, a multi-sport facility centre and club for encroaching upon government land. Market value of the freed land runs into several crores.
This is the first time when action is taken against any sport complex or sport body in the city.

The state government had given possession of three acres of government land in middle of the city to Abhay Prashal even before official allotment in 1977 for development of sport activities. Later, the land was officially allotted in 1984 and lease deed was executed in 1994.
With 30 years of lease set to expire in 2014, Abhay Prashal Sports Club had given application for renewal of lease a couple of months ago. In the meanwhile, a complaint was registered against Ahay Prashal for violation of lease agreement.
Thereafter, the district administration carried out a survey and inspection in July this year to investigate whether sport complex is running in accordance with lease agreement and carried out construction as per norms. During investigation, report of which has been submitted this month, Abhay Prashal was found to have encroached upon more than the allotted land.
“Abhay Prashal was allotted three acre of land. During investigation, it was found they had constructed on 3.61 acre of land,” said collector Akash Tripathi.
