Ahmedabad, 25 November 2014
The coming January will witness the highest ever flow of VVIPs, VIPs and foreign and domestic tourists in Ahmedabad due to mega events of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit(VGGIS), Prvasi Bhartiya Divas(PBD) and International Kite Festival. Moreover the marriage season will also be at it’s peak during the mid-January.
All these factors have increased the demand of the hotels in the city by manifold. To avoid any inconvenience to the visitors in the coming days the Gujarat Government has formed a high level committee under a senior Minister and top officials who have started meeting with hotel associations recently.
Sources close to the development informed that, “at present the availability of the rooms are less than 2500 in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar while the tourist flow in Pravasi Bhartiya Divas(PBD) celebration will be around 5000 to 7000 and in Vibrant summit may cross 10000 marks so there will be huge shortage. The state Government is exploring various other options. A tent city will be created close to the Mahatma Mandir where several guests will be accommodated. Moreover tie ups have been made with GIHED, CREDAI and number of other agencies for getting rented furnished service apartments.”
”All top five and five star plus category hotels have been instructed to reserve all their rooms for the state government guests only as the President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Ministers and President of few partner countries, Union Ministers, top Secretaries, top diplomats, top industrialists from the country and abroad will be participating in the event. Considering the security concern all hotel rooms, tent city, service apartments will be under high surveillance. Strict registration process will be followed who will prefer home stay.”, added the sources.
