SRINAGAR, Nov 24: People’s Conference chief Sajjad Lone today lashed out at Peoples’ Democratic Party over luring the voters by paying them cash in Kalaroos area of Kupwara district.
While addressing a mammoth gathering at Kralpora, Kupwar he said, “On one hand these dynastic parties claim that they will leave no stone unturned to eradicate corruption, but on the other they promote corruption by paying voters to buy their votes. It is height of shamelessness.” He added.
Police had arrested four workers of PDP in Kalaroos area of Kupwara district on Sunday evening when they were paying money to buy votes for their candidate.
Urging the Election Commission of India to take notice of these reports, Lone said, “It is the time when ECI should take note of these reports. To maintain the credibility of elections such elements have to be taken to task.”
The PC chief said that National Conference and PDP have always tried to manipulate elections in Kashmir due to which people had to pay a big price. “I am hopeful that this time government of India will take a stand and won’t allow these opportunist parties to play with the sanctity of election process. NC and PDP are power hungry and to achieve it they can go to any extent,” he said.
“As both NC and PDP have realized that voters will reject them in the coming polls, they are using dirty tactics to manipulate the polls. Using money power is one of such shameful acts,” he added.
