Five traders face action for LBT evasion
NAGPUR: With green signal from the state government to continue with local body tax (LBT) for the time being, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has resumed raids and action against traders evading the tax. Raids were conducted on five traders on Monday. One of the five traders was found conducting his business and importing goods without LBT registration for over one-and-a-half-years.

Assistant commissioner (LBT) Milind Meshram told TOI action has been taken on Ten Dollar Shop, situated on Sitabuldi Main Road for not registering under LBT and evasion tax. “The dealer imported ready-made cloths and also made other purchases. But the dealer carried out the business without obtaining LBT registration and hence evaded taxes over 18 months. Also, the dealer did not maintain any records or accounts related to his business,” he said.
Meshram added that search and seizure action was also conducted on Burhani Hardware & Paints situated at Wardhaman Nagar, Yashodeep Hardware Paints on Hudkeshwar Road, Mahadeo Light House at Golibar Square and Shivam Sales at Dharampeth on Monday.
