Pit Bull Puppies Found Dead Behind Gas Station, Police Investigating Deaths

Police in Revere, Massachusetts are investigating the deaths of two pit bull mix puppies whose bodies were found in a trash bag behind a gas station.

The pups, a male and a female both between six and eight weeks old, were discovered by a landscaper on Saturday night who was picking up bags of leaves he had left there the day before, WHDH reports.

There was no obvious sign of injury to the puppies, who were turned over to Animal Rescue League workers to determine the cause of death, according to the Boston Herald.

Revere Police Lt. Amy O’Hara told WHDH that police are “concerned because they are puppies,” not older dogs that may have been more likely to have died naturally.

Both of the puppies had docked tails, a cosmetic procedure that’s been criticized as unnecessary and inhumane by animal rights groups as well as the American Veterinary Medical Association.
