For all those people who love doing up their house in an interesting way, Collage Shop in Ashok Nagar is a one-stop-shop. The place was launched recently in the City and houses Apartment 9, an interior design label, which offers one an array of choice when it comes to interiors.

Apartment 9 is the brainchild of husband-wife duo, Mayank and Anuja Gupta. “My family is into textiles and exports. Though I joined the business, I wanted a creative outlet. So I woke up one morning and said I want to do something for the world,” explains Mayank. And that’s how Apartment 9 came into being. In his words, the brand is a “pioneer in high street organised home retail”.

The planning for the brand started in 2005 and by 2006, Apartment 9 had launched in Delhi. Recently making its way into Bengaluru, the brand has also made its presence felt in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Guwahati. “We offer a blend of traditionalism and modernism. We bring a uniqueness and quirkiness to our products. We like to challenge the extreme.”

The brand occupies a floor in Collage Shop, which was founded by Priya Vasudevan. “Priya is very familiar with high-end brands. However, she doesn’t focus only on designer labels but also younger and newer designers. For us, everything isn’t about the money. We like the fact that people are willing to experiment and are not so brand conscious nowadays,” says Mayank. “Though we are a luxury brand and people aspire for our products, we make sure that these are not out of their reach,” he adds.

The collection includes a stunning mix of home accents and decor, furniture, up-holstery and furnishings. Says Priya, “I have always liked curating nice things. Mayank told me instead of housing many brands selling various products, why not have one that has it all? So that’s how our collaboration began. Our furniture accessories are very popular. Our prices are also very good and quality is excellent,” she assures.

Ask her about their target audience and she says, “Any customer, who is well-travelled.” According to her, Indian designs are the best. “There are so many good things being made in India. My heart beats for anything Indian and my favourite kind of stories are Indian too,” she sums up. For details, call 25566818.
