Three held over nurse’s gang rape

CHINSURAH: Three persons were arrested by the Hooghly district police on Monday for allegedly raping a nurse of Chinsurah Imambara Hospital on Sunday evening.
The 32-year-old nurse, who lives at Namazgarh area under Mogra police station area, was on her way to work at night. She alleged that four miscreants blocked her way, held her at gunpoint and dragged her to a deserted place. She was then gang-raped.
She then went to the women’s police station and lodged a complaint.
Early on Monday, police arrested Bhairab Mondal, Rakhal Das and Santosh Dakua. The officer-in-charge of Mogra police station, Sukhomoy Charaborty, said that the FIR was against four miscreants.
“While we could arrest three, the fourth accused, Khokan Debnath, is still at large. The nurse is being treated at the hospital where she works,” Chakraborty said.
