YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday exhorted the party cadre to take up agitations programmes at the grassroots level for people’s cause, alleging that Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu had deceived many for the sake of power.

Chairing a marathon meeting to review the party’s performance in the last general elections in Prakasam district, he said Mr. Naidu had come to power only with a margin of 5 lakhs votes by making ‘impractical promises’ which were highlighted by a section of media with a bias towards the TDP.

Flanked by Ongole MP Y.V.Subba Reddy and YSRC State general secretary Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, Mr Jagan said: “I do not make the impractical promises for short term gains.”

“I want to play a long innings in politics. None can stop the YSRC from power and we will stay in office for 30 to 35 years,” he said to the loud cheers from the party activists, claiming that in less than six months in the office, the TDP had lost people’s confidence.

He wanted the partymen to resort to stirs in a big way up at the village level to expose the TDP’s ‘duplicity’. “We should win the confidence of people by exerting pressure on the TDP to implement its poll promises in toto,” he said.

Mr. Jagan reviewed the party's performance in Kandukur, Addanki, S.N.Padu, Chirala and Parchur Assembly segments.
