NFC made easy

Product: "Tap Into NFC" Developer Program
Company: NFC Forum

Have you considered how to leverage the power of near field communication (NFC) to create market-ready applications and services that will link devices to exchange digital information to execute payment and open other possibilities? The NFC Forum designed a program for you: the "Tap Into NFC" Developer Program to support developers across the globe via events, networking opportunities and a dedicated website, www.tapintonfc.org.

"NFC developers are at the leading edge of the NFC ecosystem, opening our eyes to the growing number of things this remarkable technology can do," said Paula Hunter, Executive Director of the NFC Forum. "'Tap Into NFC' strengthens our community of developers by providing them with everything they need to turn their visions into solutions, and a way to share ideas and insights."

Central to the program is a revolving product showcase on the website where NFC developers can share applications with peers. Early products showcased include the wearable NFC Ring; the Interact mobile app for capturing tradeshow contacts; MapYourTag, an app for tracking assets and inventory; AppNearMe's developer board for NFC-enabled devices and the Tapcentive mobile engagement platform. Entries can be sent to http://nfc-forum.org/showcase-submission/.

Also prominent on the new website are developer kits and technical specifications, branding elements, compliance overviews, news, product spotlights, presentations and other resources designed to sharpen NFC proficiency and accelerate deployment of NFC solutions in the marketplace.

"The new NFC developer program provides a great framework to give developers access to knowledge and tools needed to develop NFC products," said Donatien Garnier, founder and Chief Executive Officer of AppNearMe Ltd., whose product was featured in the showcase. "I am convinced that it will foster innovation within the NFC ecosystem by showcasing inventive NFC applications and removing the technical barriers linked to implementation."

The NFC Forum is a nonprofit trade association established in 2004 by a group of mobile communications, semiconductor and consumer electronics companies. The forum's purpose is advocate for the use of NFC technology through development of specifications to ensure device interoperability and education in the global marketplace. end of article
